Welcome to the School of Hospitality and Textile Technology at Kirinyaga University. The school was established in 2013, with intent to provide opportunities for teaching, research, innovation and self-employment in the area of Hospitality and Textile Technology. We use superior curriculum delivery where teaching material is posted to students e-learning for at least two days before scheduled lectures which allows students to interact with the content a head of lectures, we have training workshops and laboratories to support our practical lessons.
We take small class size to enhance tutor contact in class, student lecture attendance is monitored and displayed on student’s portal. Student mentorship programme run effectively and we ensure that students get industrial attachments to bridge the gap before leaving the campus and enter into the industry.
The school offers two Degree programmes i.e Fashion design & Textile Technology and Hospitality Management, Diploma, Certificate and short courses which are offered at the main Campus.
The school aims at offering high quality and dynamic training focusing on hospitality, Fashion Design and Textile Technology designed to assist learners to become self-reliant and meet diverse opportunities to meet the market demand. We are committed to provide world class training and market driven research activities. We also train civil servants, self-employed and members of public on matters related to Food and Beverage, Fashion design and apparel skills. We have collaboration with the textile industry, Export Processing Zone, National Youth Service (N.Y.S.), Nation Industrial Training Authority (NITA) and catering establishment where our students are attached for practical skills, academic visit and employment after graduation which is in line with vision 2030.
